(WellnessNova.com) - Getting your kids vaccinated and even choosing whether or not to get some vaccines as an adult, such as the flu shot or the HPV vaccine, are extremely controversial topics these days. One word about vaccines is enough to elicit even normally reserved people to raise their voices.
Although we’ll be sidestepping the debate about whether or not you should or should not get your kids vaccinated, I’m here to educate you on a few scary ingredients in vaccines that might help sway your thought processes. Some of these ingredients you’ve undoubtedly seen before. Others, you undoubtedly haven’t.
Here are seven scary chemicals hiding in your vaccines:
Formaldehyde is a preservative that’s used in some cosmetics, despite it’s having been labeled by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a probable carcinogen. Other agencies, such as the National Toxicology Program and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, label formaldehyde as a known human carcinogen.
Exposure to formaldehyde in people who react to the levels presented in vaccines could cause nervous system depression, symptoms that mimic schizophrenia, and even death.
Formaldehyde is present in nearly every vaccine out there, from the hepatitis A and B vaccines to the flu shot.
2. Bovine Calf Serum
Yes, my friends, your vaccines are most certainly not vegan. Not only because they use animal products such as bovine calf serum (#7 contains some disturbing animal content as well), but because they were also tested on animals in order to provide you with a “safe” vaccine.
Bovine calf serum is, yes, from a cow fetus. During the slaughtering process, they remove the fetus from the female cow and collect the blood from the heart using a needle. The serum is then separated from the blood. Why exactly is this in your vaccine? So the virus is able to grow in these cells that mimic human tissue. I definitely want my kids injected with cow blood. Thanks, doc.
Bovine calf serum is present in vaccines such as the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, and rubella), the rabies vaccine, and the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine.
It’s likely you haven’t heard of thimerosal. Thimerosal is about 49.5 percent mercury (mainly methylmercury and ethylmercury) and is a preservative used in your vaccines. Apparently it’s also used to make vaccines, but is removed and only small amounts are left that are “easily” eliminated by the body, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
The safety of thimerosal in vaccines has been questioned, particularly for mothers who are with child and therefore the fetus is being exposed to dangerous levels of mercury.
Thimerosal is present in vaccines such as the flu shot (most common) and the hepatitis A and B vaccines.
This antibacterial agent used in vaccines is a type of glycol, which is another chemical that’s hazardous to human health. 2-phenoxyethanol is hazardous to skin, lungs, your gut, and basically just all around sounds rather horrendous.
A reaction to 2-phenoxyethanol could include convulsions, kidney or cardiac failure, and death.
2-phenoxyethanol is found in such vaccines as DTaP (tetanus) vaccine and IPOL (poliovirus) vaccine.
Yes, aluminum has found its way into your vaccines, among the other things it resides in. Although aluminum is not generally considered toxic — it is at certain levels, especially to unborn babies and children. Although the FDA does regulate the use of aluminum in medications, it fails to do this for vaccines; therefore, the amount of aluminum you or your kids receive in vaccines can be toxic.
Aluminum toxicity can cause neurological damage, kidney problems, and has been linked to premature death in infants (SIDS).
Aluminum is present in nearly all vaccines, such as the HPV vaccine, DTaP (tetanus) vaccine, hepatitis A and B vaccines, and pneumococcal (pneumonia) vaccine.
6. Allergens — Lactose, Casein, and Yeast Proteins and Extract (MSG)
Allergens could be present in some of your vaccines, so if your child has a dairy allergy or intolerance or a yeast allergy, you could be in for a reaction if you choose to get your child vaccinated.
Numerous vaccines contain these allergens, and while yeast isn’t a common allergen, those who have a severe reaction to gluten may also react to yeast. And of course, dairy is one of the top allergens.
Also, let’s not forget that yeast extract contains MSG.
Allergens like these can be found in such vaccines as BCG (tuberculosis) vaccine, Hib (meningitis) vaccine, typhoid (typhoid fever) vaccine, DTaP (tetanus) vaccine, and hepatitis B vaccine.
7. Monkey Kidney Cells
Did you skip here after reading about the bovine calf serum? I would have. Anyway, yes, monkey kidney cells are present in your vaccines! The virus needs somewhere to grow, and monkey kidney cells are apparently an ideal way to do this. Humans have been infecting monkeys with polio since the 1930s.
You can find monkey kidney cells in such vaccines as IPOL (poliovirus) vaccine, DTaP (tetanus) vaccine, and vaccinia (smallpox) vaccine.
Think these are the only scary chemicals and ingredients used? Think again. From dog liver cells to aborted fetal cells, your vaccines are scarier than ever these days. Keep these ingredients in mind when you’re deciding whether or not you want the flu shot later this year!
